Top 3 ENIAC Scriptieprijs 
On 4 December 2009, Peter Koerhuis, who graduated in July from Pervasive Systems ended in the top 3 of the ENIAC scriptieprijs for his MSc thesis "A Smart Camera Platform for Smart Signs - Visual Tag Recognition Using Computer Vision".

Sinterklaas visits PS 
On 27th November Sinterklaas and Zwaarte Pieten paid a visit to PS. Following a positive assessment, all children, PS members and their family received a present from the Sinterklaas.

Workshop on the pervasive application of wireless technologies was successful 
The workshop organized by the Design and Analysis of Communication Systems (DACS) and Pervasive Systems (PS) groups on the Pervasive Application of Wireless Technologies on November 13 was attended by about 40 researchers from the 3TU.

Cees Links from Green Peak was the keynote speaker and gave a presentation entitled "Wireless for the home environment - current status and future directions".

Maurits de Graaf (Thales) and Geert Heijenk (University of Twente) were the two invited speakers, who gave presentations on "Maximizing the lifetime of battery powered networks" and "Connect & Drive - On the use of vehicle-to-vehicle communications to increase Traffic Stability and Efficiency", respectively.

In the technical sessions, 10 papers were presented and followed by discussions.

During the closing, Martijn van Eenennaam received the best paper award.

Participating in Design for Usability Symposium and Workshop 
Strengthening the user centered design approach is one of the issues to be addressed in the IS-Active project. Juan Jimenez attended the design for usability symposium and its workshop: "Guiding and changing user behavior", in which different ways to modify user behavior towards a better user experience were discussed.
